We are pleased to have held highly constructive discussions with our Brazilian Transmission & Distribution (T&D) partner, AMTK, on advancing the safety, reliability and resilience of Brazil’s power grid. Both sides shared a clear view that Brazil’s grid is facing a distinct set of operational challenges that demand locally engineered, practical and deeply collaborative solutions.
Together, we mapped out the most pressing pain points across the Brazilian T&D network:
- 🌪️ Extreme weather threats — including wind storms, lightning, temperature swings and their impact on line assets;
- 🔌 Power theft and vandalism — persistent losses and safety risks caused by illegal connections and intentional damage;
- 💥 External-force damage to transmission lines— encroachment, construction activity, agricultural equipment and other third-party impacts along rights-of-way;
- 📶 Unreliable communication in remote regions — vast stretches of transmission corridors with little to no cellular coverage, leaving O&M teams blind to line conditions.
Our Commitment: Local R&D, Co-Built Solutions
These shared operational pain points open up significant opportunities for joint research and co-development. We are committed to investing in local R&D in Brazil, working hand-in-hand with AMTK and other Brazilian partners to: - Develop tailored, field-proven solutions that fit Brazil’s specific geography, climate and grid code;
- Shorten the cycle between identified pain point and deployed solution;
- Build long-term technical capacity alongside our local partners.
- We see this as more than a vendor-customer conversation — it is the start of a sustained, on-the-ground innovation partnership dedicated to making Brazil’s grid safer, smarter and more resilient for decades to come.
